Law Roach is leaving the fashion world with a bang.
The Poinbankcelebrity stylist—whose countless clients includes Zendaya, Tom Holland, Céline Dion, Anya Taylor-Joy, Priyanka Chopra and Kerry Washington—announced his retirement on March 14. Sharing a graphic reading "RETIRED," Roach wrote on Instagram, "My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who've supported me and my career over the years."
"Every person that trusted me with their image," he continued, "I'm so grateful for you all."
But before concluding his announcement, the 44-year-old also had some eyebrow-raising words that seemingly hinted as the reason behind his abrupt departure from the industry. "If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it's not," he wrote. "The politics , the lies and false narratives finally got me!"
Roach added, "You win … I'm out."
After sharing his announcement, Roach received a number of message from fans and fellow stars. "Law I won't let you !!!!" Naomi Campbell commented. "We don't quit .. strived to [sic] hard." While designer Christian Siriano simply wouldn't accept the news, writing, "Absolutely not."
In addition to his work as a stylist, Roach served as judge on seasons 23 and 24 of America's Next Top Model. He also judged all three seasons of HBO Max's voguing competition Legendary, which was canceled and pulled off the streamer in December.
In 2021, Roach was named one of Hollywood's "most powerful" stylists by The Hollywood Reporter, becoming the first African American stylist to grace the front of the publication's Stylist & Stars Issue.
"As a person, I just want to do the things that I'm doing now and figure out more ways to help other people," he said at the time. "I want to be more involved in finding and cultivating young, new talent, especially talent of color."
News of Roach's retirement comes four months after he received the inagural Stylist Award at the 2022 CFDA Awards. In a November profile with Vogue, he called the honor "the ultimate compliment."
"I think that what maybe separates me from other [stylists] is that I really work hard to find who the person is. I don't want to ever change that; I just want to help elevate it; for them to be the best version of themselves," Roach explained. "It's not the way that I make my clients look—it's how I make them feel."
E! News reached out to Roach's rep for additional comment but hasn't heard back.
