Around 1:12 a.m. Wednesday, New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers received a 911 call about a vehicle collision on the Nassau Expressway within the confines of the 116th Precinct, the department told USA TODAY.
An investigation conducted by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad found that a 2023 BMW sedan operated by a 25-year-old male was traveling eastbound on the Nassau Expressway in the left lane at a high rate of speed.
Authorities said the driver of the BMW lost control and veered to the right, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway into the right shoulder.
